The Busselton Career and Wellness expo was a great success for those in attendance. Attendees were able to find out more about careers in the Federal Police, opportunities for women in mining, conservation, the Busselton jetty and many more. The SouthWest TAFE and ECU also had representatives with much interest at these stalls. People stopped and listened to the mini presentations, asked questions and took resources that were all geared to help students and parents in their career quest.

Tegan (DE Year 10 student) and her Mum, Louise Hughes, were able to attend and this is what they shared:
Hi everyone!
Last Thursday I attended the Busselton Careers and Wellness Expo and I just wanted to share my experience.
It was definitely worth going, there were so many interesting people there to speak to and bounce ideas off. It was great to see all sorts of different career paths, some that included university or TAFE and others that were not for profit organisations run by volunteers.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to attend the careers expo last Tuesday.
We were a bit apprehensive at first, not sure what to expect and whether to go or not. In the end we decided it was better to go and find out - we are so glad that we did!
There were lots of interesting people to talk to from a wide range of career paths. Even the ones who didn’t appear to be what we were interested in were keen to talk to us and help and what they told us helped us understand what was and wasn’t interesting to us.
We met a lady from Edith Cowan University who was so knowledgeable about their courses and also helped us better understand the proceeds of applying and the options available.
We are so pleased we had the opportunity it was a great experience.
Thanks to Tegan and her Mum for attending and sharing their insights.
These are just a few of the organisations that were represented:
Tronox
NAWIC (The National Association of Women In Construction)
Primary Industries and Regional Development
Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (Forrest Adventures, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, Ngilgi Cave, Eagles Heritage, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse etc)
Busselton Jetty
Federal Police
ECU
Waratah
This event was a great opportunity to go around at your leisure and speak to each organisation’s representative, share your interests and see what career path these could take you. Information booklets and cards were available - see a selection below.
We do encourage students and their parents/guardians to jump online to find out about the careers that interest you. Go and visit Tafes, Universities, businesses and other companies and organisations in your area. See what opportunities are available or how you can contribute to an organisation as you begin your career journey.
We are happy to support you on this quest, journey or inquiry and hope that you find ways to engage with what is available near you.
