Students who feel connected & a sense of belonging to their school community are more likely to achieve academic success. It is also beneficial for a student's wellbeing. So I would like to encourage all students to consider being actively engaged with our community through our ACC Connect initiatives, PC Course initiatives, excursions & other school events/activities.
ACC Connect | Update
The ACC Connect Course has had a total of 1530 replies to either a Discussion or Announcement this year. The announcements are made approximately once or twice a week.
We have a small number of regulars at our lunch teleconference, with approximately 10 students on average each day. Minecraft Club is popular with 20 - 30 students each week. We use Breakout Rooms for Minecraft Club and we have secondary student leaders host most of the worlds we use. Chess Club varies with 5 - 10 DE students each week and a similar amount on campus. We usually have 2 Divisions for the Chess Club, Div 1 & Div 2, and these Div form a 3 round Swiss Format Tournament with a time control of 10 min each. AFL Club meets regularly in the lunch TC on Mondays. A Music Club & a Jesus over lunch time (JOLT) group has been discussed. Look out for more information on that in Term 3.
We also had a baking competition with a good amount of entries submitted. Our student leaders voted on the Best Baking (What looked the yummiest), Best Photo (of something they baked), and Silliest / Coolest. Eusebia Iancu’s doughnuts won best photo, Sarah Johnson’s doughnuts won best baking & I’ve included a picture of Ezekiel Johnson’s Chocolate Cake with Pigs made out of fondant (2nd for Silliest & 3rd for best baking). We had entries of cupcakes, scones, pancakes, apple pie, cookies, doughnuts, cakes and a brick. Thank you to all parents/guardians who supported their child in their Baking Competition Entry.
If you have any questions related to ACC Connect or if you would like a chaplain appointment to discuss making new friends, social skills & / or other wellbeing related topics please don’t hesitate to contact me.
