I've always struggled to read. Growing up I avoided it as much as I could. When I fell in love with Jesus I wanted to read the Bible from cover to cover but I soon lost motivation and put off reading any of it. Internally I wrestled with wanting to know Jesus more and more and my lack of motivation to read the Bible. So I prayed; "God please give me the desire to read the Bible. Please help me to read it." And He did! I then set myself the goal of reading the Bible in 6 months. I managed to read it all in about 6 months and 1 week.

I remember many times I would read over the same passage because my mind would wander. It was approximately 6 chapters a day. But I persevered and I know God helped me.

If you struggle to read my encouragement, ask God for help.

James 1:5 (ESV); If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

There is so much wisdom in the Bible. It is something that I want not just to read but to study. Reading it from cover to cover was beneficial. Now to study it and for me still to this day I struggle. I need to go to God again and again asking for His help, His help to read it and His help to apply it.

May He refresh the desire in me and all His people to know His word, know the bible, and help me and anyone else who struggles to read to know it, to understand it and to apply it. Amen
