When I finished yr 12 I completed the Bibbulmun track end to end with a mate. We both hiked approximately 1000 km traveling from Kalamunda (in Perth) to Albany. It took us 33 days with our longest day being 53 km. For me, this expedition was enjoyable and rewarding.
You may have already heard but this year I am overseeing the Duke of Edinburgh for our school as an Award Leader. We have 32 students actively participating in the Award. Some are continuing from last year and some have recently started this endeavour.
We would like to encourage all students to consider taking part because we know how beneficial it would be for them. The Award is designed to be tailored to the individual and is therefore achievable for anyone willing to take it on.
I personally am keen to help students work out how they can achieve this award.
For some, the Adventurous Journey will be the most difficult component of the Award. Please know there are multiple options available for all components including the Adventurous Journey. And again I am keen to help workout with students on how they can achieve each component.
