Chaplains Chat

The last couple of weeks have been busy for me. I got the opportunity to lead a chess team in a local secondary school tournament, hold a parent & student information night for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and lead a Year 10 group in a hiking “Adventurous Journey” in the Walpole area.
These 3 activities/events are an important part of my role here as one of our chaplains because they contribute to the well-being of our students. How does Chess contribute to someone’s well-being? And how does the Duke of Ed?
Any extracurricular activity that students can get involved in is an opportunity for them to feel a sense of belonging, to connect, to make new friends, to have fun and to even excel and feel a sense of accomplishment.
Jesus says 10:10 (KJV0; The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. My encouragement to all students is that they give Duke of Edinburgh a go. Yr 9 & up can do that. Chaplain lukewiseman@acc.edu.au
