The 2022 Saddles Plus Interschool were held at the State Equestrian Centre in Perth from the 21st – 23rd April. The Championships are held each year and attract a large number of riders from schools from all over WA including Swan Christian College, Court Grammar, Margaret River Senior High School, Geraldton, Byford Secondary College, WA College of Agriculture Denmark and Guildford Grammar School just to name a few. Riders from primary and secondary years compete in the disciplines of dressage, eventing, showjumping, combined training and show horse. Each state holds their championships as a run off for team selection for the National Interschool Championships which will be held in Sydney in late September.

This year the ACC sent a team of 5 riders comprising Isabella Day, Charlee Morton-Sharp, Ruby Rae, Alyssa Hattingh and Payton Hattingh. The graduating year 12 riders were acknowledged at the opening ceremony where Isabella was presented with her final year of competition medallion.

The ACC team was strong in all disciplines riding consistently throughout the competition to be awarded the following team placings;

  • Champion Secondary School (Showjumping)

  • Champion Secondary School (Show Horse)

  • Champion Secondary School (Combined Training)

  • Reserve Champion Secondary School (Dressage)

These amazing results combined to place the team as the overall prestigious winners of the following categories;

  • Champion Overall Secondary School

  • Champion Secondary Rural School

The girls achieved great individual results in all their classes and were supportive and encouraging of each other throughout the competition. Individual results included;

  • Highest Placed Individual Years 10-12 (Ruby Rae)

  • Champion Secondary Rural Rider (Ruby Rae)

  • Champion Overall Secondary Rider (Ruby Rae)

  • High Point off the Track-Dressage (Charlee Morton-Sharp)

The formal award presentation ceremony will be held in July with the ACC Team attending to collect their prizes. Well done to our DE students for their superb efforts!
