I really enjoyed my time at school. During our lunch break, I mostly play basketball or chess and it was these activities that made my experience of school more positive. Lunchtime interactions are a great opportunity for students to connect with each other, strengthen friendships and make new friends.

Unfortunately not everyone’s experience of school, in particular break times, has been a positive one. I am passionate about changing that by providing opportunities for our students to engage with each other in a safe environment. Finding a common interest or doing an activity with someone can make connecting with them easier. For On Campus students, I oversee a Lunch Club every Thursday at lunch where students can come play chess or cards for example. For our Distance Education students, we have a daily Lunch Teleconference via BigBlueButton within the ACC Connect Course. I would like to encourage all our DE students to come along and help build the friendly and positive community that we have here at ACC.

The lunch teleconference is now 11:40 am - 12:15 pm. Students use Breakout Rooms to connect in small groups. I, or another duty teacher supervise and am available to help students connect.
