Our Learning Support team has been striving to reach more students on a face to face basis.

Every Friday from 10am to 12pm, Mr Pitavanik and Mrs Hardman go live on Google Meet to answer all the curly maths problems our ODE students have. Students can email Mr Pitavanik and Mrs Hardman with questions from their lessons or JacPlus during the week and then come along to work through the answers.

The teachers use a whiteboard on another screen you can see to help visualise the problems and work through it live with other students. The class is very flexible and students can come and go as they have been helped or stay on to learn and help other students. Last week we even had high schoolers helping younger students with their problems!

Last week, things got pretty fun when some excellent maths jokes were shared. Here are a few of the best (or worst?):

  • Why wasn’t the geometry teacher at school? Because she sprained her angle.

  • Did you hear about the over-educated circle? It has 360°!

  • Which knight invented the round table? Sir Cumference

  • Why was math class so long? The teacher kept going off on a tangent.

Maths Live! is only a new initiative but it has already become a popular meeting place to learn and help others. We are so excited to see how this program will evolve to benefit students even more in the future!

To join Mr Pitavanik and Mrs Hardman on Friday at 10am here is the Google Meet link for the video conferences: https://meet.google.com/vhf-oqnt-dct (Links to an external site.)
