Primary teachers will be scheduling a Question and Answer session for parents and supervisors between 9:30 - 10:00 am (longer if needed) on Monday of Week 1, Term Three. You will find the link to the meeting will be a teleconference set up within the Primary Orientation course BigBlueButton. This is a great opportunity for you to informally speak with or meet all our Primary teachers and to clarify any questions you may have about Primary DE.  Please forward your questions or suggestions of things we could share to Carol Eaves or email your student’s teachers directly so we can be well prepared. Staff will also share some tips that might make DE studies a little easier for your family. To respect student privacy, we won’t discuss individual circumstances but you are always welcome to make contact with your child’s teachers to clarify these. We hope to see you there!

Your child will receive their semester one report at the end of this term which indicates their achievement and progress at this point in time.  Please celebrate your child’s achievements and efforts with them and encourage them to set some goals for the second semester. For some, it will be the goal of maintaining their effort and great results, but for others, it may be a good time to take stock of how their results and efforts have affected their grades and to set aside some time for reflection and refocus. Ensuring your child has a good study routine and submission timetable, develops independence and self-motivation, and has all the resources they need to complete their studies is a great place to start.

As this semester draws to a close, please remember to return your resources such as novels or other materials to the main school office. Any new resources will be sent out during the holiday period.

We really enjoy sharing some of our student achievements and learning with you.  Our Pre-Primary students have been putting their Technology Design skills and resilience to good use this term with the following fun activity:

Throughout Term 2, the Pre Primary students enjoyed the story The Three Little Pigs and worked to design, create and test 'wolf proof' houses. This Technology Design project also incorporated Science knowledge students learned about material properties in Weeks 2 and 3 (e.g. wood is strong). While creating their 'wolf proof' house, students used a fan and/or a shaking table to test the effectiveness of their house. So far, they have made many strong houses with fantastic features such as strong shapes, inventive designs and biodegradable materials. We are looking forward to the finished product and the final wolf test in Week 9!

Miss Michael

Have a wonderful holiday break and we look forward to supporting you again in Semester Two.
