As I write this newsletter article, there is a buzz around me in the shared office, with staff finishing the marking of student work and beginning to enter final year grades for reports.  Term Four is a short term, and this time of year lends itself to a variety of staff responses - from heavy sighs to elated ‘well done’s’; from determined silence and feverish clicking of computer keys to pranks, jokes, and a few additional coffees (with something sweet to nibble on).

In just a couple of weeks, it will be time to look back and take stock as we thank God for this year and seek His direction and blessing for the 2025 school year.  In the meantime, we would like to thank every parent, guardian, and supervisor who has partnered with us in the 2024 educational journey of their students and encourage you to keep up the good work.  Distance Education is certainly a challenging way to do school, but the rewards can be great.

Please remember that students should continue logging attendance in Takamuna, even if they have finished their course requirements early. School officially ends on Wednesday 4 December.

All novels, DRA Fluency Passages, Readers’ Theatre Cards, and Phonics Focus Stories may now be returned to the school if you have finished with them.  If you are attending the Presentation Ceremony on 2 December, you may hand them to Primary teachers at that time. Please make sure they are in a clearly named bag.

You will have received information from the school about ACER PAT tests, which all students (other than those enrolled for Term Four) need to complete.  Could you please check that your child has completed the required assessments? DIBELS testing should also be complete by now.  This data is important for the school and for monitoring your child’s progress, and we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring these tasks are completed.

Please make sure that you have completed and returned the Personal and Social Checklist that came to you as a Google Form.  This information is included in the end of year reports.

Celebrating our students:

I would like to commend Anna Raven from Year 6 for being chosen as a finalist in the Christian Schools Australia (CSA) Christmas Card Competition. Anna’s design impressed the judges and was selected to be the email banner CSA will use this season.  Anna also has an amazing entry in the CEM Portraiture Competition.

This term, the Year Two students rounded off a year of Physical Education reflecting on their own physical activity. Here are some of their drawings showcasing what they like to do. Can you guess their sports and activities? At ACC, we recognise that while a lot of time may be spent on a computer or writing, DE provides many opportunities for students to prioritise personal interests and make personal health a primary focus of the week. Well done to all the ACC DE Year One and Two families who work so hard on academics, health, and social connections. We are all physical, social, and spiritual beings created by a Good God. I hope whatever physical activity you do this week brings you blessings. Mrs Shenfield.

We’re looking forward to seeing you soon at the Presentation Ceremony and hope you are able to join us.

Carol Eaves.
