In Weeks 2 and 3, the Pre Primary students investigated changes in the world around us and how these changes impact our lives. In this Science unit, one learning activity they enjoyed was creating a weather-proof shelter to protect their teddy bear from the sun, wind and/or rain. To do this, they designed and used recycled materials to make their shelter. Then they used a lamp, fan and/or watering can to test how effectively their teddy would be protected from the sun, wind and/or rain. They made many innovative shelters which produced some amazing results!

Change in our world is constant and in fact, the speed of change is increasing in many areas. As the year draws to a close, it often invites times of reflection and change. Locations, studies, jobs, schools, goals, sports, relationships, priorities, routines, organisation, and many more may be affected. While many changes are positive and exciting, leading to growth and progress, they can also be accompanied by a sense of grief, apprehension, or disappointment - even holidays can be challenging. Some changes are chosen and others are imposed upon us. Frequently, these emotions are intertwined, making it challenging for children, in particular, to separate and express these emotions in ways that don’t add to the stress adults may be experiencing. Dealing with change requires acceptance, resilience, and bravery, and is always a little easier with a strong and safe support system.
