Recently, Mrs Beeck and Mr Youngman collaborated on a project to share how to handle study and stress.

Each Monday morning, over a number of weeks, our On Campus students from Year 10 and 11, joined Mrs Beeck for some sessions along with the current ODE Year 11 students.

At Australian Christian College, our mission is to develop students who are equipped spiritually, academically, socially and physically to be a positive influence on the world. This course has been a helpful part of their mental & emotional equipping. The students were really engaged in the course.

Some of the topics discussed were:

  • What is stress?

  • How does stress impact learning?

  • What are some strategies for managing stress? Perfectionism and Procrastination?

The topics were well received and useful to build students' resilience and understanding of themselves and stress factors.

One week, Mr Youngman- an Online teacher, stepped into the classroom in Albany to combine the groups which gave them the opportunity to share insights and discuss ideas. In addition, each week, the recordings were shared with the ODE Year 10 cohort (thanks to Mr Pitavanik) and reviewed as part of their Study Skills Success course during live lessons on Monday afternoon. Going forward this will be a fantastic resource for future students doing ATAR or General pathways.

It has been wonderful to see the contributions from students across the College, both near to Albany and far away, allowing them to build their study techniques and confidence.
