The heavy impact of Cyclone Serja on Kalbarri was well covered on the news but very little has been said about its' impact in other countries.

In East Timor, Jag Plummer (year 9) and his family have faced a lot of challenges- including a 2 month Covid lockdown, and the devastating flooding brought on by Cyclone Serja is the latest of these.

The flooding destroyed houses and vehicles as well as taking out electricity and displacing 7000-10000 people.

'Our villa and housing complex was flooded with muddy water up to my hips. The water started flooding our house at 3am on the Monday morning of the start of school holidays.'

The electricity went out about the same time. After all the water resided we were left with thick slimy mud everywhere and on everything. We have had to move house and get rid of everything that got destroyed or damaged by the flood water. Our 4WD and both our church utes got flooded too. It's been a crazy experience and lots of work.' Jag said.

Jag and His family have moved into another villa and are now settling into their new home. They are currently nearing the end of a 2 month lockdown and they are praying the situation in Timor improves.

Please remember the Plummer family and East Timor in your prayers.
