Research shows that there is a strong relationship between learning about emotions and brain development. Just like maths and reading, emotional skills must be taught. It is very important to learn to control your emotions as it will affect your ability to make decisions, keep going in hard times and know when to ask for help.

This term, in Health, the Year 6 students went on a journey into the world of emotions. They learned about the different types of emotions and naming them, as well as how to recognise the emotions of others.

Emotions can sometimes be compared to a rollercoaster, during a day you may experience a whole range of different emotions. For the term assessment, students read an example passage and then wrote their own rollercoaster story. Students filmed themselves reading their story using facial expressions of emotions.
