This term Year 8 Art students have participated in some amazing Surrealism Collages. They put their imagination to the test and resourcefulness to collect materials. Each Artwork was to tell a story and capture the idea of Surrealism, explained as reuniting conscious and unconscious realms of experience so completely that the world of dream and fantasy would be joined to the everyday rational world in “an absolute reality, a surreality.” Some students went the extra mile to present their work with care, such as choosing a border or creating an artful display, as if their work were in a gallery.
As a Christian school, we enjoy celebrating art in all its forms, and the wonderful Creator God who gave us the gift of imagination, dreams and the ability to tell stories through all mediums, paint, collage, drawing, digital and physical. There’s no doubt that God gave us an amazing gift. I encourage you to ask Him to help you make the most of your imagination to fulfil the purpose He has for your life!
